Singapores Merlion Park

Merlions Park
Singapore, Singapore

After how many weeks roaming Singapore at last now I'm here at Merlions Park. Singapores famous landmark, the Merlion.

The Merlion, is a creature with a lion’s head and the body of a fish. The "Singa" or lion represents the animal that a Sumatran prince saw which resembled a lion and the fish is a tribute to Singapore's history as "Temasek" or sea town which represents Singapore's origin as a fishing village . The statue was completed in 1972, and measures 8.6 metres (26 feet) high and weighs 40 tonnes.

They said,  The Merlion was originally located at the Esplanade Bridge, about 20 meters from its current location and was shifted in 2002. And now, it is already adjacent to One Fullerton Hotel.

Well, walking and taking pictures from each corner of the Park, a question strikes my mind, Does the merlion has a gender?  hmmm is it a male or female? to answer that question, I tried to checked some information about it and found that the MERLION is a MALE. ^_^  aha! you might say that I'm kidding but I'm not.

Checked this out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merlion.
